This, I hear, is a common story.

I bought my first piece of  Zambesi as a student in Dunedin, from Plume. It was a classic very long black skirt, with a high waist and a big split up the back. I could wear it today, 30 years later and it would still look awesome.

One of my favourite dresses is over 15 years old and I still get compliments every time I wear it. Many of my favourite Zambesi pieces are now technically vintage. Apart from feeling just a little bit old, I’m proud. Not only do I shop sustainably, I have treasures.

I’ve re-homed a few pieces over the years. We all make mistakes! But I’m older and wiser now. I know what suits me and I invest. I’m pretty much a one brand woman. And it pays. Everything goes together. Everything works.

Mostly I buy black or blue or brown; different shades, textures and patterns, with a pop of colour every now and then. Quite a bit of lace. And sequins and glitters whenever I can get away with it.

Timeless, ageless, quality never goes out of style. Buy less, choose well. Or just choose well!
